An office space spanning 400sqm in two levels has been redesigned from scratch, as an extension of Fraport Greece headquarters. The design focused on finishes, visuals and graphic, textures and lighting as means to implement the powerful company profile within the space and to ultimately, articulate a new branding for the firm. Throughout the design process, financial viability was put into perspective. The client’s brief opted for the re-use of the existing mechanical infrastructure and resources. The design occurred in parallel to a value engineering procedure that would result in a highly efficient and balanced intervention.

The ceiling becomes a key design object, drawing inspiration from the perspective linear lights of the airport runways.

In need to address the adaptation of the existing climatization infrastructure, the proposal focused on a sharp design of the false ceiling. Linear lighting events blend the different heights of the space, allowing room for the mechanical installations and creating a narrative.

Reflective vertical surfaces, dipped in a banner of the company’s vibrant blue color, provide the division between the working areas and the meeting areas, creating a spatial kaleidoscope. The effect of the ceiling is multiplied, providing a reference to the perspective illusions of the view from a landing plane.

A simple, efficient use of color and materials - white for the painting and the details, and radiant blue as an accent and as screens – create a combination that is easily implemented, replicated, and maintained, articulating the new visual identity for the company that manages the 14 regional airports of Greece.
